Forty years previous on May 20, 1941, crack German parachute regiments invaded the island of Crete. They met stern resistance from New Zealanders defending the island - and the bonds formed between the New Zealand servicemen and the people of Crete are commemorated each year at the village of Galatas. This documentary tells the story of the battle and recounts the experiences of some of those who took part.
