Fraser, George

Businessman, socialist, arts patron and writer. Born in Wellington. Served in the merchant navy 1939-1946. Research Officer for Prime Minister's Department 1946-1949. Joined Fletcher Holdings in 1950, becoming executive director in 1962. Member of the Broadcasting Corporation 1973-1979 and founding chairman of South Pacific Television. Ran the Fletcher Challenge art collection from 1980.
