Goodwin, Jenny
"People person"
Jenny Goodwin would rather react to people than mess about with hobbies.
People Person Jenny, Television Two's newsreader for "News at Six", began announcing for the old NZBC in Auckland 10 years ago and then transferred to Wellington for two years, where she announced on radio and did television continuity work.
On returning to Auckland she resumed announcing and did associated administrative duties for both television and radio. She also took a stab at television games such as "Personality Squares" and admits to a fondness for such light relief to temper her rather serious current appointment.
When Television Two was about to start, Jenny was offered an audition for the job of network news reader on the early bulletin. On the basis of this, she was
given the job, breaking new ground for women in New Zealand television in the process,
Morris, Clive "TV Personality Parade" (1976)
The first female newsreader in the Commonwealth.
